Privacy Policy

SciVolume ("SciVolume", "we") is an AI workspace for writing scholarly books at scivolume.ai. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use it, how we use that data, and which providers process it on our behalf. Questions can be sent to davie@daviechen.com.

What we collect

• Account data. Your email address, the name you enter, and sign-in records. Sign-in uses a one-time code sent to your email; we do not store a password unless you choose password sign-in.
• Your books and sources. The manuscripts you write, outlines, chapters, version history, references you add, figures and files you upload, glossaries and translations. This content belongs to you.
• Usage records. Server logs with IP address, browser type, requested pages and timestamps, kept for security and to diagnose problems.
• Messages you send us. The name, email address and text you submit through the contact form.

We do not ask for payment details at this time. If billing is introduced, this policy will be updated before any payment data is collected.

How we use it

• To run your account and workspace, save your work and let you return to it.
• To send transactional email: sign-in codes, account notices and replies to your messages.
• To provide AI features. When you ask the AI to draft, rewrite, translate, find sources or generate a figure, the relevant text, outline and the sources you approved are sent to a third-party AI model provider to produce the result, and only for that purpose.
• To keep the service secure and to investigate abuse.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your manuscripts or sources to train public AI models.

Providers that process data for us

• Neon (database hosting, United States): account data and your books.
• Vercel (application hosting): serves the website and keeps short-term operational logs.
• Resend (transactional email): delivers sign-in codes and notices to your address.
• AI model providers: receive the content described above only when you use an AI feature.

We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies. See the Cookie Policy for the cookies we set.

Retention and deletion

Your books stay in your account until you delete them. Deleting a book removes its chapters, references and version history. You can delete your whole account from the settings page, which removes your account data and books; server logs are retained for a limited period for security. Copies in provider backups are removed on their normal schedule.

Your choices and rights

You can view and edit your account details, export your books, and delete books or your account at any time from within SciVolume. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, port or erase your data, or to object to certain processing. Email davie@daviechen.com and we will respond.

International transfers

SciVolume is operated for users worldwide. Data is stored and processed in the United States by the providers listed above.

Children

SciVolume is intended for adult researchers, educators and students and is not directed at children under 16.

Changes

We will post changes to this policy on this page and update the effective date. Significant changes will be announced in the product or by email.
